My Jobs

Day Job
Although it has been a bitch these few weeks, some would know, it do have its little perks every now and then. I’m currently working on an imode project and it is pretty fun! HolyMama! Nerdette’s back! Then there are these little benefits…

Perks

Flower memos (these roses have msn logos on them), 256mb USB flash drive, notepads and ohwee…a Samsung S410i handphone, soon to be available in the market. *swoons*

Club Dancing
I believe there are a few misconceptions about club dance because of the whole bartop dancing mania. Call me stereotypical but I find most dancers endearing, so I feel like speaking for them. Club dancing is technically associated with street jazz. Freestyling and versatility is a requirement cuz you need to follow whatever club theme clients might have. The best in the market knows how to entertain, tease the crowd, and most importantly, bring up the mood of the place. Not all dancers can or wanna do that. Techniques are important during competitions I guess. Anyway, I think that Candy, the ex-resident dancer of CU is the best female dancer around. Respect.

Glutton

Food

Just this month alone, I ate 6 packs of these calories ladened babies. You can’t tell from the images but one packet is about 11 inches tall. MmMmm… sooo goood.

Gave the agent loads of contacts. Hopefully she’ll pick one fast so I can settle everything quick. Realised some people associate club dancing with bartop dancing in sleazy joints. Hmm…like how?

Anyway, the bestfriend’s birthday is tomorrow. She’s my favourite lady! I love her to bits! She loves me to bits too that’s for sure. She’s the coolest girl ever! If I’m a guy, I’ll definately want someone like her as my wife. Her boyfriend is probably the luckiest man in the world. Happy Birthday Huixian!!

My weekend went so smashingly well that I was still floating until the media and marketing meeting just now. I couldn’t shut my mouth again. The last time, the senior editor had to write me a secret note asking me to shut up already, effectively saving my ass but today I was on a roll man. Just screwed myself over. Brilliant.

Ah quick, other happy thoughts! Ok just anything else to think about!

There was this promo job on Friday. I hate it! I hate promo jobs! I hate walking around like a freak on display, being forced to talk to stupid snotty yuppies and feeling incredibly bored. The place is the only reason why I took the job, I love the band! Then again, it’ll be damn embarrassing if people I know catch me in that stupid ugly attire which is such a turn off, I wonder how anyone can sell anything in them. Someone apparently requested me for this job, I think he should regret it, cuz I was standing at one corner listening to the band most of the time. Whahaha.

Dance gig earlier at Club 97. Really nice staff there, place comparable to Club Shanghai but instead of Techno, they play Rnb! Wahhh, appy leh!! Then went down to Club Momo followed by Devils. I wanted to go black but after someone told me my dance idol got enlisted into NS and is not around for the time being, that place totally lost its appeal.

Oh you know who my dance idol’s favourite artist is!? Mr Timberlake! Great taste I have to add! I promptly told him my favourite is Britney and he screwed up his face lightning fast. Haha uber cute.

Anyway, I’m quite pleased about people asking me for an actual copy of 101 Strings version of the nocturne. You can add me in msn pixy[at]joy.nu for a file transfer if you’re keen. For those searching for the music score, I managed to get the complete score for free from one site. Although I couldn’t find the site anymore I still have a pdf copies of it, you can msn me for them too.

Gosh I’m so helpful..*sigh* such a nice girl.

Chopin’s Nocturne in E flat major

I don’t know why I love it so much. It has been my favourite piece of music for 8/9 years?

I wrote this when I was 16.
http://www.angelfire.com/al/phahq/me.html
Guess I haven’t changed much? *laughs*

My favourite rendition is by 101 Strings Orchestra, incidently the first version I heard too. My 101 Strings album is a present from Dad! *big grin*

I lost the CD a while back but I’ve finally found it again! And although I’ve got many versions of the nocturne, this by far is still my favourite.

Gosh, I loooove it soooooo much it’s crazy. I must have have listened to it hundreds of times and sometimes it still makes me cry.

Plug: Jane cracks me up ever so often. I dig her blogging style, like she’s writing whatever that is streaming through her mind at that moment, exactly as it is. Sits, open blog, think, write, write, write, stop. And she’s off to some other stuff.

Cool, if I were to blog in that way. I think it’ll go like this.

…er…hmmm…Justin Timberlake is so hot I wanna marry him. ok…so there you go. I’m hungry now…bbl.

it’s not a blogger thing
☆·.·* says:
oh…hmm don’t think so.. but nice talking to you

Actually, I was hoping it was some bloggers feature because I really wanna bitch about it to someone involved, about how stupid it is. I don’t know about you but it’s embarrassing how local media and national newspapers are putting so much attention to an increasingly dominating blog culture which seemed juvenile at best.

But the sheep can’t all be black. There are many good Singaporean bloggers who prefer to stay away from unnecessary attention. Xiao Nu Zi have much respect for them.

I’ve got some of them linked up. Do take a look.

I’ve gained one more kilo. Bloody hell! Maybe I’ll try hydroxycut or whatever since that very knowledgeable Ptr mentioned that it’s not some silly fad and is suppose to be healthy?

I know I’m being irritating cuz I kept saying I’m going on a diet yet I’m still eating like a pig, but at least I’m not as annoying as people who eats nothing but insist that they are not on a diet?

Hey why am I so bitchy recently? Tch.

Sigh.

The whole family is going to New Zealand but I’m not going cuz I think tours are freakin waste of money. My Dad’s paying but I really think I should be paying for the trip myself. And in that case, I would rather use my money buying something else… perhaps something more tangible, sleek, which incidently runs on Tiger OS. I know it sounds wild but I have an idea that this thingamagig may be linked to Steve Jobs too?

So… I may not have anything specific in mind but I’m certainly not trading 1 month of hard labour for a few days of glorious air and scenary which is really irrelevant when you think about the inevitable depression that follows, and that initial trauma of being forced home to live with oh horrors.. The People. I think I’ll be fine watching xena and lotr, listening to “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and drinking loads of milk for the whole of their trip. After all, that’s what NZ is all about isn’t it?

Some other stuff
- My mum bought a bag of chocolates from Candy Empire. Argh! I wanna lose weight leh! I wish that besides cleaning up the mess after me, doing the laundry and stuff, she could be a tad more helpful? Jeez.
- I’m not a choc lover. I love my milk chocs but I don’t like chocolate flavoured whatever, why take chocs when you have strawberry flavour? Anyway, I’m addicted to Meiji’s Strawberry Milk! Soooo yummy…
- I watched the Southpark Movie today. Ahahaha funny but I still prefer The Simpsons.

Homer: Marge? Since I’m not talking to Lisa, would you please ask her to pass me the syrup?
Marge: Dear, please pass your father the syrup, Lisa.
Lisa: Bart, tell Dad I will only pass the syrup if it won’t be used on any meat product.
Bart: You dunkin’ your sausages in that syrup homeboy?
Homer: Marge, tell Bart I just want to drink a nice glass of syrup like I do every morning.
Marge: Tell him yourself, you’re ignoring Lisa, not Bart.
Homer: Bart, thank your mother for pointing that out.
Marge: Homer, you’re not not-talking to me and secondly I heard what you said.
Homer: Lisa, tell your mother to get off my case.
Bart: Uhhh, dad, Lisa’s the one you’re not talking to.
Homer: Bart, go to your room.

When I opened up my eyes today
Felt the sun shining on my face
It became so clear to me
That everything is going my way
I feel like there’s no limit to what I can see
Got rid of my fears that were holding me
My endless possibilities
Has the whole world opened up for me
That’s why I’m feeling…

I’m feeling so good
I knew that I would
Been taking care of myself
Like I should, cause not one thing
Can bring me down
Nothing in this world’s gonna turn me around

Now the day is turning into night
And everything is still going right
There’s no way you can stop me this time
Or break this spirit of mine, oh no
Like the stars above I’m gonna shine
Anything I want will be mine
Tonight I’m gonna have a good time
Call a few friends of mine
Cause I’m loving life, and tonight’s for feeling…

- Jane gave me a lecture on the evilness of binging on banana nut crunch last night. It had a good mix of capital letters, exclamation marks and prolongated letters, desperate means to put her point across. According to her, binging on nut crunch is GROSSS and the people engaged in such ugly activities are plain GREEEEDY!!!!

I took note and did a bit of experiment. I ate few bowls to see if it feels gross, after the fourth bowl I feel bloated and wonderful and…. that’s about it.

- Went to some IT convention at Suntec yesterday. Felt a bit intimidated in conference talk initially but chilled out during tea break cuz I was too preoccupied with the food. Can feel IT solutions promo girls around my age stealing glances at my tag to see if I’m a professional or some stupid intern. Networking was a flop cuz apart from eating, I spent all my time talking about religion with this IT Director/Hardcore Christian from some MNC. Food is good though.

- We had speech practice on Thursday too and my speech made someone cried. I was naturally freaked out.

- Applied for leave and received an email telling me that the remaining 5 days of my annual leave have lapsed because I didn’t apply earlier. It took a lot of effort to stop myself from replying the email with a “WTF?”

- Freakin pissed off because of this and many other stuff but the in charge wasn’t around so I headed home since it was already quite late. In the train, I was muttering angrily to myself half the time (rehearsing what I’m gonna say on Monday and fyi, the optimal scenario ends with some clever snide remarks from me and a big smelly tuna) and glaring into my book the other half.

- Pent up anger is not healthy so I decided to do some running. It was amazing!
Plugged into shuffle, started with big strong steps and gradually upped the pace as confidence built up. I love the feel of cool breeze brushing across my face into the swirls of my hair. I love how the beat of music seemed to be in tune with the pulsating heart and how my steps harmonized with the rhythmic waves of oxygen laden blood.

I ran about 2 km in 3+ songs (My humps, Sometimes, Hello). Totally unexpected because the last time I ran was ages ago. I wasn’t short on breath after the run either, and was tempted to continue especially when Augustus Gloop started playing. But I didn’t wanna make it hard to outdo myself the next time so I decided to just cool off by brisk walking around the neighbourhood, listening to my willy wonka music and feeling soooo amazing.

Didn’t seemed like it hours ago but I think this weekend’s gonna rock. Happy Weekends!

Double Bitching

August 17, 2005 Bitchings Comments

I was really bitchy last night partly because there’s so much to do but so little time. What’s this deal with sleeping 8 hours everyday anyway, I admit sleep is amazing when you’re dead tired but such a pain in the ass when you don’t feel like sleeping at all.

Anyway I was mostly miffed because some idiot shoved words into my mouth and went on a gossip spree. It’s so ridiculous even the hillbillies know I couldn’t have shoot myself in the feet like that. Empty in the head with a huge gaping hole for a mouth which further affirmed it. Raur!

Took this yesterday, I need to clip my bangs when I’m working haha.

I’m chubbier! If you see me in the streets and I ask if I’ve put on weight, do me a favour and say “Du-uh, obviously…and you know what? Serves you right.” My fingers may curl into tight balls of fury but if you follow the instruction carefully, that is not saying anything more, I promise not to throw punches at you.

*edits*
I just ate 3 bowls of Banana Nut Crunch, 2 fourleaf longish buttered bread (dunno the name), 2 cheese buns, 1 fun size snickers and 1 fun size mars bar. You know what? I don’t even like Mars bars, but it looked so lonely and out of place amidst the handful of twix and snickers in the fridge. How could I just leave him behind? My power to be empathetic should not be handicapped by inaction. What I did was a nobel winning display of righteousness, selflessness and utmost courage. I sense good Karma coming my way.

The blog was wonky over the weekend because I was moving servers again. This whole wordpress moving business could be my forte considering the impressive pullinghairoutinfuryduetosqlerror hours that I’ve clocked. But nah! Tricky is wordpress. And this time, I’m switching domains simultaneously. Oh Ho Ho Ho! Are you aware of the implications these two seemingly innocent words bring? There ought to be some blinding neon warning signs really cuz, well let me put it to you lightly; this simple gesture of switching domain increases server change complications TENfold, that’s your usual brain imploding level of complications x 10, premature death is just one of its least disturbing side effects.

Thanks to my outstanding adherence, everything’s working fine now. The lack of visual differences is offset by life changing backend improvements which you unfortunately can’t see. For example,

1) My blog is fully hosted in joy.nu now. It was residing in pixelstars.net before and joy.nu was only a redirecting url. This means accurate referers tracking among other things. So hit me up!

2) Change nameservers to one that comes with a better plan.

3) My RSS is finally working. This has nothing to do with the server move per se but I added it in anyway. The arguement goes like this; while I was furiously eliminating wordpress errors, I thought “Since I’m already thinking, why not try solving the RSS problem too?” There you go, I have “shun bian” solved it. No, really.

I’m also hosting my sister’s new domain, mochafrappe.com. I made her ask her friends for suggestions and that was their best stretch. Junior college students. What else can you expect? But think about it, if you were threatened by a certain Goofyduck before (see previous entry), anything goes.

Anyway, I decided to host the blog myself because of an amazing plan dreamhost is offering.

Before my bitching, let me ask you!!!

What do you do with a free domain registration?

Being the most awesomest sister ever to live in this world, I naturally decide to give it to my sister; not before overcoming an internal struggle with my opporunity costs. It’ll probably cost me a pwincess.com or some other cute name but my loss is insignificant; family always comes first. So I smsed the sister, asking her what domain she wants.

Uhm goofyduck?

*silence*
What have I done.
….Really….somebody give her more suggestions while I switch to bitchmode.

Ok last weekend, I was talking to this idiot in MU. The topic of blogging came up, he said he has been blogging for 5 months and asked if I know what a blog is? I blinked, comtemplating if I should feign oblivion.

It took only one fleeting moment for him to translate that slight hesitation into ignorance and he smirked, yes he bloody did. And as if that was not enough, he mouthed the word blog and traced it out with his finger on the table like I was some retard. You know what? If it was legal, I would totally assault him right there.

What the hell!! When I was hovering at the brink of sanity trying to rebuild my files in greymatter, he was still playing Tamagochi can?

But apart from being the most awesomest sister in the planet, I also happen to be quite humble so I decided to pretend that his display of self delusive supremacy didn’t happen. I continued the convo, asking him where is this blog of his hosted and he said he hosts himself. Mmkay….unexpected. I instinctively asked about the blog engine but he couldn’t give me anything coherent. After clearing up a few things I found out that he is actually hosted in ……blogspot.

Argh!! Self hosted my foot man! Can anyone be more annoying!? No! Entirely impossible! *mutters something incomprehensible but vile sounding nevertheles*

Anyone looking for cheap hosting can find more information at this page.

Music

August 11, 2005 Music/Dance Comments

Music genre attempts to classify music for easier understanding but music preferences shouldn’t be bounded by such scientific taxonomies cuz at the end of the day, music shapes genres, not accomodate them.

Although I lean towards rnb, I don’t listen to it 24seven cuz that’s just narrow-minded. I try my best to be liberal when it comes to my music preferences… hmmm erm… prefering to hate House is a legitimate preference too eh?

Anyway I’m so in love with music. I rarely cry while watching a movie but a really good piece of music can make me bawl. My fave music may differ with time but here are the current toplist.

  • Ultimate: Chopin’s Nocturne in B flat major. I love it for such a long time, it makes me all dreamy and teary and warm inside.
  • Old School: Here, There and Everywhere by The Beatles.
  • Ballad: Lost in your Eyes by Debbie Gibson.
  • Classical: Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, esp Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies… but of cuz.
  • Jazz: Dream a Little Dream of Me by Diana Krall. Sweetest song ever.
  • Christmas Song: Sleigh Ride. Instant perk me up.
  • RnB/Hiphop: Feelin so Good by Jennifer Lopez. My 2005 theme song.
  • Happy song: Augustus Gloop by Danny Elfman. Cuz it really reminds me of someone. Hahah

Ok now, I wanna introduce my song of the moment!!!

Strut yourself, come on! Hey ya’ll come on, come see something, uh uh, uh uh, can’t touch, can I get a hand clap, for the way I work my back. Tick tock, all around the clock, drop it, push ya tush like that, can I get a Sooey, can I get a Yee-haw!

Rooms featured in the earlier room entry appeals to the technophile in me.
The rooms in this entry however had me fallen, head over heels, in love!

I don’t think many will like them though. Take my mum for instance, she thinks they are catastrophically cluttered. But Chey! What does that auntie know about style anyway? huh? Huh!? Jeez.

Gorgeousness

Each room projects a visually stunning story. Some exude glamourous style in monochrome while others surprise you with a magical menagerie of colors. The assorted mix of themes may seem erratic at first, but explore each room carefully and you’ll notice a common trait woven ingeniously into every room, ie the enigmatic charm that lures you deeper into the hotel’s encapsulating and whimsical world.

Zen, minimalist and ikea people may feel that they are too kitschy (such a cute word!) and superfluous. But I totally dig them! And their abberance feels like a breath of fresh air!

Weekend

August 7, 2005 Joy Comments

The weekend totally totally rocks!!! Just wow! Now I’m uber knackered and super famished. Black was superduper fun earlier. I was laughing all the damn time. Man, dancers are so fun to be around with, they don’t just have fun…they have mad fun. Mad fun is addictive yo.

Friday

Watched The Maid premier with the talented Willy. He have the talent to be either hot or hot and geeky. Fwah! That’s so talented! Paul kept drooling over him. Me and Aileen’s suspicions were further confirmed.

Went to Club Momo. Too hot, too smoky, too dark. Music genre is inconsistent giving rise to spasmodic moods. Not really fun although Paul and loads of good dancers were around.

Saturday

Shopping and Movie with Qianni. Got my eye on a pink guess wallet, I’m still deciding between two sizes. Shared 3 flavours of Venezia Gelato (Dark chocolate, Hazelnut, Strawberry) and 1 scoop of Haagan Daz ice-cream (Strawberry Cheesecake). Needless to say, I chose the two strawberry flavours. Muahahaha! *does a lil jig*

Watched Charlie and the Choc Factory! I don’t really like the Michael Jackson inspired Willy Wonka. Although I totally adore Johnny Depp, I have to admit that I prefer Gene Wilder’s version of Willy. The updated oompa loompa song really grew on me though and Freddie Highmore is perfect for Charlie Bucket.

Went down to Music Underground for a Gig. Had much fun working with Cheryl.

After the gig I dragged Cheryl down to Black where the real fun begins. Euphoric kinda fun. I don’t remember when was the last time I got this high before.

Sunday

Woked up to some stupid message from some guy I don’t really know about wanting to meet me on Saturday because he was feeling down. He said it like I owe it to him. Whoa, like I care? Seriously, some people have all the nerves. -_-”

Rooms that Rawk

August 4, 2005 Nerdette Comments

Do you know what is the most common decor theme in Singapore? Zen. You have to trust me on this because I have inside knowledge.

That is so annoyingly ubiquitous! I know I’m not unique myself, like during my “long rebonded hair + skinny frame + spagetti tops + tote bags” days in nus, my mates used to tease me.

“Priscilla… there are so many Priscillas around here, it’s actually quite confusing” he muttered, gesturing lazily around the girls in arts canteen. “Oh look, you’re queuing up to buy chicken rice too.” he added, pointing to a girl who was carrying the same esprit tote bag I was carrying, effectively driving his point home.

But that is fashion style waat and I can’t be bothered most of the time. What does Jewel say to this? Fashionably sensitive but too cool to care? Yup I’m sooo cool.

Anyway, back to room decor…I can understand why everyone’s house is Zenish, Minimalist Zen to be specific. They just have to throw a few planks of dark wood, biege couches and white washed walls together… Voila! Instant Zen! Easy to clean too.

Shame on them!!! Because….. Will you just look at this!!!

Oh.Mi.Gosh. Geekishly awesome! Imagine living IN a contemporary graphic design! If that is not the epitome of coolness, I really don’t know what is.

Very amazing, but if you’re no where as talented or don’t wanna sacrifice a hefty sum of moolah to engage brains of that calibre, you’ll have to be satisfied with say dreaming? *sighs*

Reminds me about my Pink Room Project. (Ahh I feel so inferior now!)

I’ve got more silly ideas! I wanna buy more dangly stuff! They will have a wild time hanging around the room hitting the heads of people unfamiliar with my territory.

Gonna throw in a rug too. Jordi Labanda has wicked fantastic rugs but they are forbidden lest I start prefering the floor to my bed. I’ll probably settle for cheap Ikea rugs, so when my mum starts noticing signs of a dust storm brewing, I can quickly chuck them out. ;)

Anyyway, my mum thinks I’m mad cuz I love cluttered rooms. I’m extremely anti-zen cuz I feel that more often than not, they lack personality. A few zen designs may be cool but everyfreakingbody? That’s bloody cloning! I guess my taste is a bit like this webdesign, throw all the “ChaPaLan” together and hopefully turning it into something that works.
