Web 2.0

The name (r without e), the logo, the design (reflective surfaces, big fonts, footer), plugging into web 2.0 websites. Still in Beta! But of course!

Web 2.0. Please die. Via notcot.org

Anyway, new updates in poketo. Totally in love with their stuff. You can get outdated wallets at Tangs for SGD50+. It’s better to get newest range directly from poketo for USD20 isn’t it. You can even buy them in a bundle of 10 for USD100. Cheap! And I don’t remember paying a lot for shipping. Here are the newer designs.

Wallets. I love Alex Noriega. Not a secret.

They introduced a series of plates too. Argh! They are so cool that it’s really quite sickening.

Glimmer–a faint shining; twinkle, shimmer or flicker.

The text on this little pendant came from a vintage dictionary and is preserved under a coating of glossy resin. A softly gleaming vintage brass bead dangles nearby.

Sweet. Get it here.

It’ll be nice if I can preserve bits of memories, love letters and such, and wear hints of them close. They ought to offer personalized charms.

Geek Chick

May 26, 2007 Nerdette, Snapshots Comments

When I saw my picture in that stupid hottest blogger website, I have half the mind to email them requesting for removal. But why bother.

But seeing my picture in a technology based website in a post related to the startup culture of the Bay Area and web 2.0 is strangely elating. Certified geek now!

This is the picture used in that post, Aileen and me (check out her dimples). Thanks Kevin aka Inspector Gadget for taking the picture!

Second Life and Stuff

I was helping Aileen come up with some credit card mock up for a press conference today.

Haha this isn’t the official one, just meant to scare her. And in case you’re wondering, that blonde bombshell is my avatar in Second Life. I’m not sure if it could get me arrested for severely deluding people. But whatever, she’s hot.

Her name is Nix Hera. Yes, that’s the coolest name ever (Nix is a water spirit who plays enchanted songs on the violin, Hera is a goddess in Greek mythology).

Pretty cuppa coffee Darius passed me last night at BlogOut. Thanks Lucian for the nice picture!

BlogOut

May 24, 2007 Blurbs, Nerdette Comments

Will be attending BlogOut in a few hours time. I have been wanting to visit the Holy Geek Terminal for sometime now, since the fellow geeks are raving over the moon about it.

Other personal stuff..

Let’s see, have been doing healthy things lately. Visited the gym and hit the treadmill yesterday, felt like I could run forever but because of time, I did an hour of leisure running before I had to scoot off… it wasn’t enough for the adrenalin to kick in since I was running really slowly. Ugh, I’m morphing into a robot.

Then there’s this swimming carnival thing on Saturday morning and I’m waking up early on Sunday to have breakfast with my Darling Joelle, I’m expecting some hardcore yakking before I meet Cris in the arvo for more yakking! Just in case I didn’t have enough in the morning. Note, all these are happening in the DAY! Hah! I’m holding in the party animal for, at least, this weekend. I am a morning person. I am a night owl as well. It’s time I decide which one I want to be before I kill myself with lack of sleep.

Lastly, something by Miss Van, just cuz.

Hungry Lah.

Anyway, I’ve upgraded from WordPress to 2.0 to 2.2. Didn’t backup prior upgrading but the good faith paid off, there was no kinks and shit. I love you WordPress, you’re awesome as always.

I’ve bought the tickets to Christina’s concert. Feeling pretty thrilled! Christina Aguilera is no Britney Spears but I adore her all the same. Mickey Mouse Club rocks!

Finally.. THIS is super cute! Ahaha.

Party at Velvet Dragon

The party was okay, loads of familiar faces. Glad I kinda caught up with the ever elusive Candy babe. We should really do that more often babe. I haven’t gotten enough of what going on in your life. Next time we should just skip the boring work and school shit eh?

Sunday was spent shopping with the only bimbo in my family, my mum. I think she’s pretty disappointed that none of her daughters ended up like her, although she tried to cultivate materialism in us when we were kids. She offered to buy me a coach wallet yesterday. I think I enjoy more satisfaction being able to tell people how I declined. Not that I have anything against spending money on overpriced frivolous things, I just think the money can be put into better use. Like getting a Vista and sending the money to Bill Gates so that he can help me contribute to Charity via the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Yes, they call me charitable. Because I am.

Anyway, I’m plugging the very awesome Tumblr.

A tumblelog is a quick and dirty stream of consciousness, a bit like a remaindered links style linklog but with more than just links. They remind me of an older style of blogging, back when people did sites by hand, before Movable Type made post titles all but mandatory, blog entries turned into short magazine articles, and posts belonged to a conversation distributed throughout the entire blogosphere. Robot Wisdom and Bifurcated Rivets are two older style weblogs that feel very much like these tumblelogs with minimal commentary, little cross-blog chatter, the barest whiff of a finished published work, almost pure editing…really just a way to quickly publish the “stuff” that you run across every day on the web.

I’ve got one and I’m really enjoying mine. Words flow when I’m writing in my lil’ tumblr log. I’m trying to get my fellow chums on it. If I’ve bugged you before or is going to bug you to sign up for one, it means we’re tight and I like you loads and I really want to know what’s going on in your life. So humour me?

The artists of Smitten.

Smitten

Amy Sol, Stella Im Hultberg, Brandi Milne, KuKula, and Audrey Kawasaki! :D

Other news.

- WordPress 2.2, nicknamed “Getz” is out. New feature, WordPress Widgets, sounds really nifty.

- Apparently, Christina Aguilera is coming to Singapore. Singapore appeared briefly as one of the tour locations in her official website, but I can’t find it there anymore. I’m not getting my hopes up for nothing but isn’t that exciting!?

- This article on Banksy is very well written and engaging.

Weekend

May 14, 2007 Blurbs Comments

After work on Friday, I went running with my Dad, laze around before taking the bus to orchard road (I miss taking the bus), dropped by someone’s house to get some stuff, went down to Velvet Dragon, then MOS, went for Supper (almost choked on my Milo Dinosaur). Went home to sleep for three hours before waking up for a lunch appointment at Boat Quay. Korean food followed by coffee at TCC! Went home to work. Work ends at 12 midnight. Dropped by Velvet dragon again looking for the ever elusive Paul. Then supper. Again.

Sunday was blissfully lazy in comparison. Woke up from 8 hours of sleep and felt really sluggish for the pretty much the rest of the day. Had mother’s day dinner at some Hill. Went back early to sleep. That’s all.

New Layout

May 11, 2007 Cool Finds Comments

I’m using a wordpress layout theme by one of my web heroes, Derek Powazek. Love.

Personally, when I look at web design, I look at the attention designers paid to finer details. You’d be surprised how little little things can make a big difference. Dedicating more effort to design the date stamp, bullets, dividers, comments format and so on refines and polishes your website. I’m usually too lazy to do such things, putting so much love into web designs. Respect to renown web designers!

Anyway, I’m damn addicted to this song.

The Cardigans – Gordon’s Gardenparty

You in brown checked suit
said my dress was very cute
I found you found me
dancing in this melody
Heavenly!

We were swinging on so nice
bubbly pink champagne on ice
Nancy, Jacques Closeau and Claire
I believe they all were there
Having the time of their lives

You had Rose’s lime
mixed with vodka, I had wine
People having fun
cocktails in the evening sun
Give me one!

bubbly pink champagne on ice

They are selling Poketo Wallets at Tangs in Vivocity for S$55. Had a little game of “Guess Who” where we tried identifying the artist behind the artwork before flipping over for answers. Each wallet has a short biography of the contributing artist. I got only a handful right. Damn. Need more exposure.

Anyway, I saw this one here by Hannah Stouffer at Tangs.

Her designs were all out of print when I bought one so I got something by Stella Im Hultberg instead (which I totally like too), but damn, ain’t that pretty!

I can’t wait to see what other new artists Poketo will be featuring. I’m really hoping Miss Van. :P

Here’s some sneaks at what’s happening behind the scene. Magic.

I was watching a lot of classic sesame clips on youtube the night when I was supposed to study. Watched a couple of gems that induced so much nostalgia.

Fondly remember clips featuring enthusiastic Grover working as a waiter at Charlie’s, always trying to satisfy Fat Blue, who never fails to pull his elite corporate bitch antics on poor Grover. Raur!

I miss watching cookie monster eating absolutely anything he fancies. I’m hoping for the day Elmo gets devoured by Cookie Monster. Death of Elmo, that would be the greatest episode ever.

Oh yea and not forgetting my first crush ever Ernie. There’ll always be a special place for him in my heart. LOVE.

Ernie and Cookie Monster

The above clip is soooo funny. “See? Now, all cookies are crumbs and in my tummy, they all match. Byebye!” Lol! Oh cookie monster, how I love thee.

Visual Arts stuff: I’ve blogged about Alex Noriega here, wrote about his Toxicity ipod skin.

Toxicity is also available as a wallet at poketo. I bought a Stella Im Hultberg wallet from poketo months ago and it arrived all perfect and pretty.

Do I need another wallet? I think I do!
