I’ve blogged about Alex Noriega at least twice before.
Recently realized that a couple of his artworks feature bunnies too. For example.
Heh. I love bunnies.
Braces update: I visited the dentist yesterday for my first monthly appointment. He tightened, cleaned and showed me my good progress. He told me that my top and bottom teeth should be completely straight in four months! After that, he’ll proceed with closing the gaps my extracted teeth created. Yay! I love braces!
Charming, almost theatrical. But what I really want is this.
Geek Chic. Suddenly, the allure of a Mac is so much harder to resist.

Love the effects in her photos.
Anyway, Happy Mid-Autumm Festival.
Once a year, we’ll bring out the mooncakes, the candles and the little Chinese tea set. We’ll gather round in our little balcony, we’ll chat and laugh and be annoyed at my Dad’s silly antics.
I’ve ordered a Lucky Star Lantern but it hasn’t arrived. Oh well, it would have been adorable.

Satisfying dose of Bunny Love. We parted merely hours ago and I miss him already. Our secret blog is turning out great. He’s not much of a computer geek but he’s making an effort to blog!
Excerpts from his entry posted not too long ago.
“i miss my darling already. luv her lots n lots!”
Don’t rouma okay…But I luvluv you too.
Weekend Summary
Fish Soup with Aileen Baby + Curry Galore at Rendezvous + Al Dente + Dreamy Pumpkin Risotto for you, Atlantic Cod for me + Chocolate Fondue + a shot on the butt + Bugis Village Maze + Culture Shock at Fu Lu Shou + No Reservations + Esplanade’s Twilight Breeze + Hand in Hand down Scotts Road + Hunt of the Ballerina Flats + FCUK + Moonlight Runs by the Beach + Steamboat Blimp Out + Three Perfect Mornings
Only four days left to the next weekend. Can’t wait.

Because less is sometimes more. Via decor8.
Anyway, I was looking at photos of the Bestial Show, presented by Iguapop Gallery, curated by Miss Van. I’m pleasantly surprised to see Mademoiselle Kat in the show. I always thought they were rivals (Kat, Fafi and Miss Van all hailed from Toulouse and started painting graffiti at about the same time). I’ve never blogged about Mademoiselle Kat because her drawings don’t appeal to me, but you may love her.
It’s all quite personal. Some guys told me Miss Van’s girls are ugly. I do agree that they don’t have the universal appeal of say, Kawasaki’s girls. But I’m just so drawn to them, and I can’t explain why.
I love Miss Van!
By the way, I just had the best pumpkin risotto earlier, at Al Dente. Super yum!
Pop Art + Photography
Infuse Pop Art into your rooms.

My sister has this really huge, super cool pop art poster of The Beatles hanging in her room. Pop Art! The Beatles! When I saw that for the first time, I was ready to elope with it. Wait. Still in the midst of planning an elaborated theft.
Bottom left of the montage is not strictly a room but an old Fafi exhibition. Which reminds me, I bought something from Fafi yesterday. Absolutely can’t wait to lay my hands on it.

Choosing my birthday present. Tralalala.
My Dad suggested this.
Nope. I just want a simple desktop computer. Also, I’m not in a hurry, I told him we can get it during Christmas where there are more promotions. In the meantime, I’m keeping options open. Oh and although Mac is really pretty and all, I’ve sold my soul to Microsoft. Bill Gates is my hero, I cannot betray him.
Anyway, the Mid Autumm Festival Alternative Plan B went really well. I had fun coordinating and people seemed to have enjoyed the show.
Baby and I decided to share a secret blog. And we settled on blogspot because it’s one of the easiest blog engine to set up and share. Then we had to choose a name.
* a pocketful of stars ☆¸¸.·´* says (3:06 PM):
ok blogspot then…choose a name!
(*) m a r c u s says (3:09 PM):
hmmm
something cute
any suggestions?
I was furiously making up pretty names like Stardust, Happy in Bloom, Luvtart…you get the drift….
(*) m a r c u s says (3:12 PM):
arentwecool?
* a pocketful of stars ☆¸¸.·´* says (3:12 PM):
hahahahah
arentwecool.blogspot.com is, very unfortunately, not available.
We finally settled on a blog name. But hush, it’s a secret!
I don’t know if it’s me but a lot of artists seem to have this peculiar fixation with bunnies. Yumiko has this above piece. Hmmm..
Friday: Went to middle of nowhere in the afternoon to pick up some costumes for my company’s Mid-Autumm Festival celebrations, which is happening tomorrow. This had nothing to do with me until someone suggested that I dress up as Chang’e to create the right mood. The boss summoned me into his office to tell me the good news and I was like. “You’re joking right?” No definite reply.
So I switched on my thinking cap right then and brilliantly conjure an alternative plan for him. Turned out to be not so brilliant after all. Because suddenly, I am responsible for the opening of this event. yippee.
Oh well, but I had the creamiest, yummiest ravioli for dinner at Casa Nova. And that totally saved my otherwise gloomy Friday. After dinner, Baby and I shared a pint of Hagen Daiz Strawberry Cheesecake. Gluttons. That’s what the both of us are.
Saturday: I went for class in the morning, but skipped the afternoon session. Accompanied my parents to Nata Tours exhibition at Singapore Expo in the evening. They are going to Europe later this year. After getting all the bookings done, we all join Aileen Baby for Dim Sum at Geylang. Cheap and good food, super love.
Sunday: Nice lazy Sunday with baby! Geylang Soya Bean Curd breakfast, a long catnap, chicken and macaroni soup for lunch, cycling at East Coast Park, hot steamboat in chilly twilight, teevee late into the night.
Sweet Weekend altogether.
One of her newest work. Gorgeous as usual.

Where the magic happens.
I’m turning into a Kawasaki stalker.
Recently my colleague and I attended this usability workshop sponsored by the company. If not, we would have to churn out $850 each for a day’s session.
He spoke about Web 2.0, taxonomy, folksonomy, digg, basecamp, mash-ups…etc and whenever he asked if we’ve heard of the term, I nodded. At times, he would ask me to define them, and I did.
In the end, he went. “You know everything, don’t you?”
No. But I really should stop stalking The Internet.
While working on my literature review for my dissertation on Human Computer Interaction, I stumbled upon this little gem of an article.
A Vernacular Web
I started my website in 1998 and this article brought back so much memories.
Yes, I remember the starry night backgrounds, the collections of animated web graphics like rainbow dividers and running puppies, animated buttons and bullets, the MIDI *groan*.
And the nightmare of working with Frames before IE came up with iframes in IE Version 4.0. I was quite apt in frames and am still proud of it even though the skill is now dysfunctional. Lucky.
I miss the Tilde…
And can you remember the phenomenon of “Welcome to my Homepage”. That’s like “Hello World” of programming.
Old school social media infrastructure exists too. Instead of facebook, we had web awards, cliques, sister sites and web rings.
There were a few notable web-based hosting providers like angelfire, gurlpages, geocities, virtue and envy (two cooler ones). You had to upload and edit every file online. Gah.
The web is so much different now. Almost ten years later, I’m still so much in love with it. It literally change my life because if not for The Internet, I’m probably teaching Geography now. Not that that’s not cool, it’s just that I can’t imagine doing something that has nothing to do with The Internet.
Thanks for coming into my life, you. And for old time’s sake…

The Ipod Touch
On another tech related news, Aileen baby got featured in Techcrunch! Singaporeans ought to be proud!!!!!

Plugging two personal friends of mine.
Ling, who had her photograph (below) published on the September issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine.

And Willy, an established photographer who is currently featured in Nikon Club Singapore.
Love this picture, so sweet.
Personal Stuff
Baby and I was on a mission to find the cutest plushie ever. We were shopping around before settling for a Baby Ty Cubby Cuddles Bear (right). Baby Ty are the best beanie category because they are super soft and cushy, and among them, mine is the softest. Feels like a dream!
The plushie is gonna have to represent my baby. Although Cubby is the best one available, this would have been perfect.
Right Bunny Bear?

Excerpts from an old diary I haven’t written in since 2004, this is the first entry in years.
A book of memories. Treasured. Tears flow as I remember a past so painstakingly forgotten. Yes, it was painful, and it was intense. And for a while, it seems impossible to let go.
In the end, all I want is you, all I can think about is you. Not him. I want your arms around me, comforting me and telling me how things are going to be different this time. I’ll try to be how I once was for you, truly believing that love lasts forever. Just show me you’ll do the same for me too.
Then maybe, you’ll have my last first kiss.

Bunnies. And you’re a special one.
Happy Monthiversay my baby Bunniee Bear!

You’ve probably seen Mark Ryden’s artworks before. He’s a notable artist and I’ve seen his works around. Rose is a common sight, she once made an appearance on Miami Ink (reality TV series about this cool Tattoo Shop in Miami)!
Sophia’s Mercurial Waters from Bunnies and Bees collection.
I know of Mark Ryden when he was working on the Blood show, which was really popular but I didn’t grew into it because… the theme for that collection is Sorrow and Fear… so yea. Could be the reason.
Anyway, I’m wondering if I should buy a “Bunnies and Bees” Portfolio.
Portfolio of 14 prints, including a numbered certificate. Prints are 8″ x 10″ high quality lithographic printing on cardstock with an embossed border. Prints come in a Japanese silk covered box. This portfolio features paintings, details and studies from the Mark Ryden Bunnies and Bees show. Edition of 10,000.
$50, sounds like a steal!
Anyway if you don’t have the time, check out the Wood Nymphs under The Tree Show. Gorgeous Lolitas.
More about him and his works on his website.
I don’t always blog about artists I like. Usually, I see something I like, I’ll follow the artist’s work for a while to see if their style eventually grows on to me. Audrey Kawasaki and Pinkytoast are good examples. Here is one more.
I like the softness in her illustrations. Too bad I don’t know what she’s writing about. She talks about Jordi Labanda in one entry. Ahhh I do want to know what she thinks of him! Visit her blog here.
Braces update (Day 3): My teeth are still sore! And it’s a bitch to bite anything. I’m eating nothing but soft mushy food that I can help dissolve between my tongue and the roof of my mouth. People are telling me about the ulcers that are bound to follow. I haven’t develop any but please don’t ever come!
