Convocation 2008

20 odd years of education taught me led me to think that success in life is a balance between keeping your heads in the clouds and putting your feet on the ground. If you’re not tall enough to reach both places, finding a strong person might suffice. Because I prefer to keep my heads in the clouds, the boundless sky is a nicer place to be.

More Pictures

I locked my facebook profile recently because I received weird calls at office, after creating a facebook group for work. Ok. It was just one weird person. But that’s more than enough. Album is open to everyone though, so I guess everybody with a facebook account should be able to see.

Weekend
Pasta Fresca + The Dark Knight + Codfish Dinner + Godfather Part II + Star Print Dress (Finally!) + Tonkotsu Ramen + Bunny is getting promoted(!) + Strawberry Cheesecake Ice-cream + Shopping with Joe + I love the Japanese Supermarkets + Zodiac + Goodbye xoxossss

Observation
If Gillette cannot come up with anything better, I think they should just skip to 10 blades and spare tiring us with announcements of their revolutionary 3, 4, 5 and so on blades. They should hire me in R&D, I mean, 10 blades! Who would have thought of that? That is foresight, a rare talent.

Merging Worlds
I recently find myself in a situation where blogging becomes work. I wasn’t very pleased when the rest of the world invaded my Internet. And when work crashes into my online world…sheesh.

Anyway, I love love love this idea. I was looking at some old photos, those tagged with little notes of commentary brought the most interest and amusement. I think, it is time to get zealous on captions. While pictures are flickers of your visual memories, what about your thoughts?

Picnic Time

Picnic Time

Someone’s Sunday was certainly amazing, your should see this entry at its full glory.

My Sunday was quite perfect too.

Same routine, different week. But not just another week. This is the third week of July, 2008. Time flits and floats away so simply, that’s why I’m holding everyday close to my heart. Especially the times when we are together. Time is painfully precious when you’re around. You don’t teach me much (haha) but you have taught me that. And isn’t that one of the most important lessons we have got to learn?

White & Colours

White Washed Floors

I mentioned before, doesn’t hurt to mention again. I LOVE wooden whitewashed floors! I hate wooden floors in general but when you paint them over with white, MAGIC! It’s also the perfect canvas for other colourful items. A peek of sunshine here, a hint of blush there. I like!

I went to Temasek Poly for a meeting yesterday, they showed us a couple of really nice interactive technologies. Developments in technology is fascinating. The inconveniences of 1908 is almost unimaginable today. While it’ll be nice if we can show people a century before what they have been missing, I wonder what we will miss. If we can only take a little glimpse of the world at 3008…

I know what Earth will be like in 5 billion years though. Burnt to crisps. Thanks Astronomy, for being insightful.

- I watched this documentary “Modern Marvels: Candy Making” last night. I didn’t know you can make flavored licorice (I don’t think it’s possible for any flavor to stand a chance against licorice). Black licorice, you either like it or you don’t right? Wrong! I happen to find it outrageously obscene, the foulest tasting thing in the world.

- People say you’ve got to Think. Think. Think. About life paths and future, about the grand scheme of things. I think, in the grandest scheme of things, nothing matter. We all live selfishly and then we die. I don’t get deluded into thinking that I’ve got life all figured out. How ignorant. How arrogant. I don’t think we are ever meant to know. But go ahead and figure anyway. Just remember that I do not want your life, so don’t preach your life to me.

- It’s not strange when people think I don’t eat, yet it’s kinda rude to assume. I eat… enough. The truth is, I’m not even hungry most of the time. There are times where I find myself eating just so that people don’t think I have a problem with food. So when I tell you that I don’t want to eat because I’m not hungry. You know we’re close. And that I’m really not hungry. And no, I don’t hate food. I earned nicknames like Greedy Pig, Greedy Monster and Dinosaur. Give me some credit.

- One third into Emma, I enjoy it, but not as much as Pride and Prejudice.

Petits Pots de Crème

Petits Pots de Creme

Yummy yum

Blink. Swoosh. Weekend. How scary is that!

Reading update: I’m currently reading Emma after an unsuccessful attempt at Lisey’s Story. I gave up one third into the book because I wasn’t digesting anything. Hmm.

Drained. Time for bed.

I’m making it a point to print all my pictures from now on. I’ve lost so many pictures I don’t remember. When my old computer died. I was upset about my photoshop files, my brushes and fonts.

Today, a recollection of one of those special occasions led to this revelation.. “I took pictures that day, I have them in my old computer, the one that refuses to start…oh…Damn.”

Moments captured and then lost. Prints may fade in the Sun but at least they are not vulnerable to the instability of technology.

I want to look back and laugh. Perhaps I should invest my faith in Facebook? The following picture was uploaded to Facebook by one of my best friends.

The prints are turning sepia but the colors of that day are still fresh and vivid in my mind.
It was 18.10.1998. We sang Happy Birthday to Me.

I don’t know how to look any happier. This is Joy, at its best.

July July

July 6, 2008 Cool Finds Comments

2008 creeps along, the second half of the year has long begun. What have you done? A quick check on my resolutions and apart from getting the license to drive and cook, I’m doing pretty well. Think I’m gonna add more!

Need more reminders that time is ticking by? Some gorgeous wallpapers for July!

What happened this weekend: The Godfather + Kung Fu Panda + Home-made Sukiyaki and Grill + BiBimBap! + Cat Naps + Castle in the Sky + Macadamia Nut Brittle Ice-cream for Supper + Bak Koot Teh + BREAKOUT! Very TMD.

Pictures takened from my phone. Clockwise, starting from top left.

  • My mum says my face is getting longer. Her exact words were, “So thin and long, SO UGLY!” *shrugs* I think I’m losing my baby fats.
  • Sunday is family day. We had buffet lunch at Hanabi.
  • My Bunny. Lovelove.
  • Tonkotsu Ramen from Tampopo (Liang Court). Highly addictive!
  • Yesterday, I had Vanilla and Strawberry Cupcake from Paisley and Cream for Tea
  • My Workspace

Today, I saw passion and commitment. In the eyes of entrepreneurs fresh from their teens. Very endearing.

Introversion

July 1, 2008 Art and Design Comments

I kinda forgot about the blog, too many things going on. I’ve been meeting far too many people and I don’t remember like…a lot of them. Linking names to faces is tough. The following happened one too many times.

Someone approaches. I smile and prepare to extend my hand and introduce myself.
Someone: Hey Priscilla! How are you!
Me: Oh hello, I’m good.

Quite bad. I’m becoming introverted these days. I’m not super social to begin with, being around people all the time makes solitary increasingly precious.

Anyway, I want to blog about Anita Mejia! It’s been a while since I found an illustrator whose works I really like, so I’m quite pleased with my new find!
