The Girls of Alpha

December 26, 2008 Joy Comments

My friend was spinning in Play Club so we dropped by (music’s great). Hyper bunch of dancing jumping kids could get messy. We were outta place and overwhelmed. I can’t decide whether I should be angry or amused when I was groped by a “girl” or “boy”. But it was definitely cue to flee. And off we went for supper.

The Christmas Present from Bunny, at 4 am in the morning.

Muse

I said I wasn’t getting it cuz it wouldn’t age pretty. Now, I’d just have to make sure it does.

Adolie Day

December 17, 2008 Art and Design Comments

Adolie Day: Cute, and I spy the Bunny Conspiracy.

It could be an instance of seeking what you want to see, but there are too many Bunny peekaboos. Coincidence? I think not. The Shilock Rabbit reports.

Kendra Binney‘s getting darker these days.

Media folks in their business suits at Asian Television Forum and Geeks camping out at SIGGRAPH Asia.

I woke up at 7.20 am, went back to sleep and dreamt about waking up and getting ready for work and travelling and reaching my workplace before I woke up again at 8 am and was all “!?? Why am I still here!?!”

Waste of sleep.

Anyway, I’ve got this annual theme song going on, a song to sum up what that year was all about. I mean, when you reached the point where you have 80 years under your belt, who cares about what you did on a daily basis right?

Songs that become personal lies with contextualissation, and sometimes, it has nothing to do with the lyrics. My song choice for 1999 is simple, I spent a good chunk of the year rehearsing some competition and that was the song we danced to. What is your song for 2008?

1999: Crazy by Britney Spears
2001: Slave for You by Britney Spears
2002: Dirty by Christina Aguilera
2003: Fighter by Christina Aguilera
2004: I Love You by Martina McBride
2005: Feeling So Good by Jennifer Lopez
2006: The Importance of Being Idle by Oasis
2007: Everything by Michael Buble
2008: 100 years by Five for Fighting

Bunny sent me to work earlier, he had to wake up earlier to grab documents from his office before going back to his place to get me, then he had to drive to the other side of the island before going back to the east for his appointment.

I assumed his appointment would be in the West, or I would have taken the train! You know, I absolutely cannot stand girls who make guys chauffeur them around the place. Too stupid to walk? Traveling on your own is lame? You really think you’re some royalty because he said you’re his princess? Oh what could it be, the thing that magically transform girls into helpless, pitiful, pathetic beings?

It’s so easy to be trapped into the comfort girls think they are entitled to, I will not be pathetic.

SIGGRAPH Asia 2008

December 14, 2008 Nerdette Comments

Don Greenberg, Rob Cook, Mike Bailey, Steve Cunningham… Art Gallery, Animation Festival, Sketches and Posters, the Pixar Magic…after the second day, you’re not allowed to take pictures.

But I took some on the first two days! I went to the Asian Television Forum too, media folks are just too sleek and polished. Snore. Geeks are Love. SIGGRAPH is love.

A lotta walking earlier, dinner at Tony Roma’s made up for the calories burned. I’m done with the fourth season of House. Last two episodes, “House’s Head” & “Wilson’s Heart” is WOW! This is what I call good television. TV is officially cool again.

Bleu of Tiffany’s

December 7, 2008 Nerdette, Photography Comments

Jaclqeen Bleu‘s photography. Reminds me of Tiffany and Co’s blue, which is a registered trademark. Trademark a color… only humans can come up with this sort of nonsense.

I’m not going to be in the office much next week. I’m going to Virtual-Reality Continuum and its Applications in Industry on 8 & 9 Dec and then SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 from 10-13 Dec.

Definitely tickles both the technophile and the designer in me. Love being in the IDM industry.

To Kill a Mockingbird

December 3, 2008 General Comments

I like many books, a handful I’m crazy about, a few hold a special place in my heart. But I don’t ever recall myself crying over a particular story. I’m stingy with emotions, when my friend told me how he bawled near the end of Million Dollar Baby, my interest spiked so I watched and anticipated a very sad ending and before I knew it, the credit started rolling and I was all “Eh? That was it?”

I was crying this morning at the bus stop while reading “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Which is surprising because I’ve always been apathetic over the whole black and white situation. I was inspired to read it after Obama’s win, to appreciate the occasion better. Needless to say, I do now.

Work

At a work event: Matching IDM Startups with Investors for Series A Funding.

Weekends- X-Ray, Fish Soup, Tila Tequila in A Shot At Love 2, Curry Curry, Prawning isn’t so bad after all, Mutant Prawns with Long Blue Clippers, Maggi Goreng at 4am, The Bunny Revenge, Walk About Town, 45th Anniversary Gala, Hairspray on HBO.

A close friend commented that I’m so blissfully happy in my life that I just don’t understand how miserable people can be and therefore she prefers pouring her heart out to people besides me. From a close friend, this is very disappointing.

I heard this “you won’t understand” many times, in different ways. Two questions. Does empathy need experience? And is it the domain name?
