Also met up with my college pals on Saturday for Steamboat Tunch that goes from 12 to 5. After three sets of steamboat stove, three explosions, we managed to settle down proper to feast on good food, bubbly and “discussions”. I meet new people all the time, some interesting, some strange, some cool and some not so… but your heart always have good spots for old friends. Friends you made when the circumstances were simpler and masks unnecessary.

Is it harder to find friends when you get older? I think so! But I don’t think one needs too many friends, since you only have limited amount of time. Family is always on top for me, because at the end of the day, who is going to wipe your backside? Think about it. Lol.

In summary, I ate a lot. Comparable to the amount I ate last weekend at Bangkok. It’s a bit worrying when I don’t shit much, so many wonder where all the food goes. I have constipation, I eat around the clock, something is definitely not right.

Also, Pixar is losing its mojo, I didn’t love Wall-E, less love for UP. The new territory/dimension/world/perspective element is getting old. It was refreshing in Monster Inc, trite in Wall-E, stale in UP. But that’s my opinion, and it hardly matches the general consensus (UP is top 250 in IMDB).

Day 4: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Chatuchak Weekend Market, Beef Noodle Soup, Red Ruby Love, Baan Khanitha, Soi Cowboy
Day 5: Lazy Day, Homemade Yogurt from Dad, Out and About at 1 pm, Platinum Mall, Snacks from the Foodmall, Black Canyon Ice Coffee one last time *sighy*, We are Officially Sick of Shopping, Patpong, Food from the Streets wins Thai Fine Dining.
Day 6: To the Airport

I’m considering getting a better camera, it started with me lamenting over the beauty of DSLRs in facebook and that I should stop gawking at them. This is followed by a flurry of replies coaxing me into getting one. Argh. I’m pretty excited to see so many hobbyists and professional photographers among my friends. Many gave good recommendations, advice and some even offered to lend me their precious cameras.

Unlike cellphones industry, where there are basically two main camps (iPhone vs Blackberry). Camera choices are aplenty, confusing, crazy and sometimes infuriating. Retailers do not treat girls seriously. I was at Sim Lim over the weekend, and I asked to see the Sigma DP2. It went like this.

Me: I’m looking for the Sigma DP2.
Beng: It’s 1.2k you know?

Why Sigma DP1? Because I’m a fan of Jim Radcliffe and is inspired by the magic he creates with the Sigma. He even compares it to Leica M8!

After working on these photos tonight I am convinced that the DP1 is worth holding on to. It did a better job than my M8 in several situations and costs only a fraction of what the M8 sells for.

Tried the Sigma DP2 and I feel it is one camera that requires the environment to suit its whims and fancies, especially under the hands of an inexperienced photographer. Hard beast to tame, in other words. My search continues, shall keep you updated.

Made a trip to Bangkok over the long weekend, at Dad’s expense. I know it sounds embarrassing, considering how old I am. But I didn’t follow the family when they went to New Zealand, Europe, Korea and China so I saved up quite a bit for him over the years! I so hope I get a frugal daughter just like me IF I get one (I’m so tagging my Mum on Facebook for this post).

Day One – Three (My favourite bits in Bold)
Day One: Platinum Mall, Dinner at Kinnaree (Sukhumvit, Soi Eight)
Day Two: Siam Paragon, Siam Square, Jim Thompson House Museum, Baan Krua Village, Wat Trimit, Sam Peng, Hua Seng Hong Restaurant, Saphan Phut, Khaosan. We walked so much that my legs felt like jelly.
Day Three: Traditional Thai Market (Ta-lad), Train out of Bangkok, Exploring the Countryside on Bicycles, Suan Lam Night Market

The whole trip was peppered by snacking on anything that looks interesting, kept us full around the clock. I love the distinct flavors in thai food (pad thai, beef noodle soup and ice coffee are to die for and cannot be found in Singapore), but it could get too intense for long-term consumption, that you start to crave for subtler Singapore food. This sums up the trip itself. Bangkok is vibrant, attractions are in your face. Although you need to seek the Fun out of “boring” Singapore, you do miss the plainness and stability after a while.

Woodneuk

Weekend: The Hangover + Rider’s Cafe (Pancakes, Egg Florentine, Musroom Soup and Ravioli) + Brewerkz Cosmopolitan + Social House with the Luxy Girls + Toa Payoh Nonsense + Woodneuk with the Adventure Seekers + Sneaking around Woodneuk House + Snap snap snap + Astro!!! + Michael Jackson’s Concert + Car Wash + House + Topsy Turvy + Brokeneddd

Woodneuk finally. We tried trekking through the jungle once and that didn’t work out, the ants made sure. This time, we tried another route. I wasn’t as obsessed with the place as Darren was, but I’m so glad I went along, even though I had to wake up early after partying the night before.

See all pictures here.

Also, please watch The Hangover, it is hilarious!
